I agree with you, the format could be improved somewhat. Memes are great and all but sometimes there is too much focus on it. I’m not a mod so I can’t change anything, send them a message with your concerns or make a post about it to gain some traction.

We used to get 10,000+ upvotes and comments regularly on important shit on /r/TD. Now we have stickies up for what, a couple hours?
