I’ve saved my whole life and was able to get a 2nd home that I rent out long term. If my tenant stops paying rent and I can’t evict them, I’ll have no choice but to sell. Destroying my lifelong savings and retirement goals. It’s fucking bullshit. Open everything up, let people work, and let people pay for shit they’re supposed to pay for. We don’t need free gibs for the whole damn country. Fuck this shit
It's insane that they're proposing this. Sounds like your tenant is still paying, which is good. I currently rent (due to circumstances, looking to buy in a few years) and would never think about not paying the landlord.
Hope everything goes alright for you. Would recommend getting out of the rental business ASAP based on where this country is headed.
Yep, still paying. I’ve definitely thought about getting out. Everything seemed like I was on the right path, having extra wealth to provide for myself and my family. Now it seems on such a thin string about to break because the dumb fucks in Washington and Sacramento don’t know what they are doing
You just can't be too careful when screening renters. If you have good people for renters, then things will turn out OK. If they are not good people, then all bets are off.
I hate to say it but if they cancel rent and you can't evict...no one in their right mind would buy into a home with people living inside not paying and no eviction rights. I hope for everyone's sake this does not happen

Just sell now before you have to miss payments
