It's also pretty much the sole explanation for why the left has constantly strived toward segregation and away from cultural assimilation. They don't want that debased cultural paradigm to shift. If it ever did, they'd lose votes. Self-sufficient, empowered people do not vote for their money to be taken away from them and given to others.
