I'm not a lawyer, but I believe his prior criminal history might not even be presented to the jury. So realistically they might be told he wuz a gud boy about to turn his life around.
If the officers were aware of Floyd's criminal history at the time of the incident, then it is relevant because that knowledge would have informed the officers' actions during the arrest.
Edit: His past history of swallowing a stash of drugs to escape an arrest is also relevant, I think.

I agree it's irrelevant to be honest.
It could taint the jury's opinion of him in a way that is unrelated to the event in question.
