The driver was not disregarding traffic laws. The protestors illegally roadblocked a federal interstate highway in a metro downtown with their own vehicles parked crosswise across the lanes. The driver was foreign and probably thought that was normal and went around.

I agree, the protest was illegal, but the police shutdown that section of the interstate during that time. The onramp that he entered was blocked. Whether he was aware or not is besides the point. I guess I’m not all too familiar with the law in this regard, but he clearly bypassed what was meant to stop him from entering.

I hate protestors blocking highways as much as the next pede, but if you ignore the cops and drive through a baricade and then procede to waste said protestors... Well that's a lot less defensible.

If he drove over a cop to shoot up the protestors I'd still defend him. That should be more people's attitude here.
