My in-laws believe this exact type of shit. If its on NBC nightly news, it must be true. They don’t even realize it... they actually believe they are impartial/thoughtful/reasonable etc “moderates”. Yet, their entire worldview perfectly aligns with the mainstream media outlets. It would be comical if it weren’t so fucking sad and frightening.
Yeah I have family members that are the same. You can know their opinion before even asking, because they outsource it to the likes of NBC. They regurgitate talking points like robots, verbatim. Then when you share an original thought, they can't process a response. Cause it wasn't covered on NBC.
So many millions of people simply believe what the media tells them to think, without any further exploration of whether what the media is saying is true or not.
Recognizing that the media is nothing but pure propaganda and not rooted in reality is a shocking thing and must come from within; most liberals simply will not even entertain that fact without becoming hostile or condescending. There usually needs to be a catalyst where the liberal’s eyes are showing him things that totally contradict what the liberal media is saying. Some, maybe most, liberals are beyond help but some are still salvageable.
