It wouldnt have escalated that fast if he just kept his hands on the wheel in the first place and no try to deceive the fact he got caught dping something he knows he wasnt supposed to be doing. Best thing you can do is listen to instructions and answer the questions as short as possible with no intentional lieing. They usually just let you go at that point and confescate your illegal crap.
