There's a part of me that thinks, sure, let reparations go through and watch people spend it on dumb shit like shoes and chains instead of real estate and job training, and then it will all be gone in a year and they'll be back where they started. Unfortunately, it would just be argued that it wasn't enough money. Money won't change that type of childish, instant gratification, short-term thinking and shit culture.
Thing is, when these "reparations" proposals come up, it always turns out to be a deal where the black people don't get any actual money. The Dems come up with programs to benefit blacks, then their friends and family get the contracts for the programs.
If black people actually get $123k, I'll eat my shorts!!!
I never can wrap my head around that. When I was growing up in 80s we were "food stamp poor" and we barely had food. Now people use their welfare card at the drive thru.
It’s Reynolds law: giving people the trappings of middle class existence doesn’t give them what it takes to get there, but only undermines those traits.

I see all the welfare rats around here blowing their money on nice cars, chains, expensive phones, and the best food.
Hell, they live better than me, who slaves away 24/7 just trying to scrape by while the government takes 1/3rd of my money.
I guess I'm the sucker.

Of course you are the one with the privilege.
