True story: I work in insurance. Lady client leaves husband with a $500,00 life insurance policy. That’s a half million for those of you in Rio Linda. Gets engaged 2 months later to a guy half her age— he’s 24 so you do the math, assuming you’re able. To spite her ex husband, who was, in my estimation a decent guy; she names new fiancé as sole beneficiary. She has 2 kids with ex husband... lady dies in a car accident a week later. So I break the news to her ex husband that their kids get jack shit— feels bad man. The man breaks down; a grown man breaks down in my office. I want help him but can’t. He leaves. THEN I have the absolute pleasure of telling new fiancé that he inherited $500,000 tax free. Fiancé works in a warehouse, not poor but not well-off. I ask him if he has anyone to manage his money— a life-changing amount of money. “Yeah, I got a guy.” Cool. Couple weeks pass, I call him back. “Hey,” I say. “I’m still able to help you manage those funds, if you’re willing.” Turns out his financial “advisor” was his warehouse boss who convinced him to go to Vegas for week with the warehouse crew. He now owns a brand new 2020 Challenger with street racing trim (forgive my ignorance on cars): $70,000 car and can’t afford the insurance on it. He blew all his money in Vegas. Nothing for her kids.

Don’t do this, pedes. Your children are EVERYTHING.
