They intentionally reduced the black populations to dependency on the state through food programs, housing programs, garbage schools, support for single mothers, high incarceration rates.
Then, when they had them on their knees, they told them it was because whites were holding them back, that they could not succeed because of whites.
To prove to them that they were held back they came up with affirmative action, low entry scores for college, minority hiring programs to PROVE to them that they had been held back.
Now blacks would owe them any success and yet still feel that they were held back by whites. For when you feel someone else is responsible for you not being able to succeed, you see no point in trying.
See how that works? And you also feel that the only way to get anything is to support the people who tell you you are oppressed.
It is about time for black people to wake up and smell the coffee.
They have been played. In one generation they went from seeing their possible life as this:
""The Cosby Show" centers on the lives of the Huxtables: obstetrician Cliff and his lawyer wife Claire, their daughters Sondra, Denise, Vanessa and Rudy, and son Theo. Based on the standup comedy of Bill Cosby, the show focused on his observations of family life. Although based on comedy, the series also addresses some more serious topics, such as learning disabilities and teen pregnancy. "

Well, if you spent your entire life being lied to, if every day you were told the same lie, from the moment you were born, how long would it take you to realize you had been played?
For example, when the war in Vietnam started I believed what I was told, year after year. It was only when I met guys who had been there, who told me what was happening, that I began to realize something was off.
And not until I realized that the soldiers were so demoralized by what was happening that they were killing their own officers, did I finally realize something was very wrong.
The last nail in the coffin was when I read that the supposed S Viet attack that started the war never happened.
Now it took me five years to figure out Vietnam.
I can see how if you were in a ghetto, went to lousy schools, were surrounded by poverty, crack heads, gangs and someone said all of this is not your fault, it is THAT guy who is holding you down, that you might grasp at that straw, buy into that story.
And once you did, with no real alternative voices around you, how long would it take for you to realize you were scammed? It could take quite a while...that is where a lot of blacks still are.
Trump was waking a lot of them up to the scam, so they can come out of this, they just need their own "nail in the coffin" of the lies they have been told.
