If you want to send money to someone you know personally there are better ways than GoFundMe or any other crowdfunding site, those are specifically for sending money to strangers with sob stories. I don't know if they'll still let you do it these days but you used to just be able to go to the recipients bank and deposit money directly into their account, or you could do a wire transfer or send Bitcoin or even mail a check, anything is better than supporting a company like GoFundMe.
