The three or so I'm "close" with (good friends brother, co worker, dude I went to rehab with years ago) all HATE trannies and pedophiles creeping in and associating with them. I've had plenty of disagreements without the other person accusing me of being the reason the Republics crumbling... in fact I learn the most when I talk to someone who disagrees with me. What's the point of just having someone reinforce your current understanding? It can be enjoyable but I like to grow/learn.
