Who said anything about being landlocked? Last I checked, the only two landlocked countries in the entire western hemisphere aren't the ones the US is having immigration issues with.
The point is that it it takes more effort for Chinese people to get to the US than people from anywhere in the western hemisphere. Let me know when the Mediterranean is suddenly as large as the Pacific Ocean.
This still has nothing to do with immigration. Why are people still acting as if the person saying the quote matters?
Replace "landlocked" with "being part of the same continent." I don't know where the heck you're coming from with Chinese people migrating to the US. Why would they have to do that? Like I said earlier, their socialism (fascism) is working.
Do try to keep up. It isn't a particularly elaborate comparison, not sure why you're having this much trouble. Unless you're being purposefully ignorant.
You brought up the comparison being invalid in regards to the Chinese. The claim that their brand of socialism is "working" has yet to be seen. The point is that people from Venezuela (or other socialist places like Cuba) come to the US not only because they can make a better life for themselves here, but also due to proximity. If they go over land, they can pretty much walk right in.
My contention was that, if China was much closer to the US, we'd likely see millions of illegal Chinese immigrants. However, as it stands, it is much more difficult for them to immigrate to the US, legally or illegally.
