One explanation is fixed and will never change; the other explanation is ever-evolving as new data is discovered. So if both are wrong, at least one of them has the potential to be correct at some point.

Both explanations are lacking. As always, humans have quite a ways to go in the field of discovery.

It is possible to believe in intelligent design, in my opinion the only logical answer, without believing in a literal translation of the Bible.
