My stepdad's daughter is like this. He paid for everything when she was growing up. She ended up getting a job as a flight attendant and just said goodbye forever. She never called, never came by, nothing.
Then the pandemic hit and she was laid off. Almost immediately, she calls her dad and he spends thousands on her to get back home (She lived out of state) and is paying her car payments because she cant afford it.
He tried to help her get a job, but she isnt looking. There was a secretary job opening up at his job, where he works as a contractor for the government. It would have been around 40-50k a year. She turned it down because she didn't want to be a secretary; thought it was beneath her.
She's been collecting welfare checks for a full year now.
At some point, America became full of leeches who don't want to work for what they want to earn.
I blame parents for the most part.
