What I've come to learn is that the second amendment really means nothing. It's been stripped of its core for 90+ years and even then, you might have your safe full of guns but being too fearful to use them due to all of the prosecutors just drooling at the opportunity to make an example out of someone who defends themselves of being robbed. (See the McCloskys who didn't even shoot anyone but dared to bare arms on their "private" property as looters marched on by.)
They can let us keep our safe full of guns while eroding everything around us, and many will still chatter about "thank goodness we still have our guns!" What good do they do? Maybe they are as effective as a weighted blanket for the psychotic.
We'd be in gulags already if they thought they could take our guns. So they try to claw back inch by inch without crossing the line. I'm in California and can still get a gun, I just have to play some clown games to do so. If they every push too far, and that means actually taking guns, we'll see what happens.
What are they doing in Canada? They banned all of those "evil" guns last year. What happened? Nothing. But sure they can still buy bolt action rifles.
You know our guns are ineffective when a drone strike can be ordered that would decimate you in a moment's notice. The 2A isn't stopping any tyrannical government,

That's a valid point, but you're talking about just part of the intent of the 2A. The right to self defense has definitely been under attack.
But the 2A is mostly intended to allow us to defend against a tyrannical government, and it is still serving that purpose.
Is it really? How many states have banned since Sandy Hook and nothing has been done about it except griping on the internet.

I have my guess.
