II MEF (Marine Expeditionary Force) is the USMC’s major command in the eastern seaboard with a defined AOR; the MEF itself is commanded by a LtGen (three star). II MEF Information Group is a unit within and under II MEF, likely almost all civilian and under the chain of command.
The Twitter handle was probably used by some dumbass; but yes it IS USMC. And the military shouldn’t be calling out journalists like that. Very unprofessional and entirely fucked up.
There's a couple simple techniques to being able to do that. It's not easy without practice but it makes it doable. (9 years in the Corps.)

It's Marine Corps. II MEF is essentially the entire East Coast portion of the Marine Corps Forces (to put it simply).
