This is the power of a close and respectful relationship with your parents. I know not everyone has the best situation with theirs, and my heart goes out to those of you that aren't so fortunate, but for those that do, please do the best you can to keep them safe. They aren't liberal by any stretch, they just don't want to deal with all the nonsense. They do understand when I tell them that the vaccines are not properly tested, and that way too many people have died for them to be remotely safe. They aren't that old, late 50s for both of them, but my father has heart problems and wasn't going to get it until my mother did and was fine anyway.

They trust and respect that I'm not just going to tell them something from political bias, and that I have further reasoning to support my claims. I can't stop them forever, but I can at least keep them safe for now.

Horray!!! Good job Pede! Congratulations on having parents who believe you. A rarity these days and a true blessing.

Sounds like mom got the first shot? Prayers for her there.

I can understand about not wanting to be a Guinea pig.
Wait a few months or so for more data on how the elderly respond to the vaccine.

I just talked to my in-laws today. They said they're planning on getting it 'because they want to travel'. I answered with how many deaths and hospitalizations there are with the vaxx, I have no plans to get any. Statistically speaking, I'm better off getting Covid.

They're not liberal but they watch a lot of 'news'.

Idk it's their choice, but I'm just going to continue dropping little stats to them as they talk about it.

Start showing them pictures of caskets and ask them which they like

Are they aware that taking the vaccine does not 'prevent' the virus? They can still contract it and can still give it to others. That they must still mask, social distance, and avoid large crowds REGARDLESS of their vaccination? Doesn't that prove it is not a vaccine, but a 'preventative therapy' to lessen symptoms IF they contract the virus. Smh...

Yes. They know this. They brought up how the only reason it was rushed was because the red tape was removed. I agree with that part, but mRNA has never been used successfully as a vaccine. Why take the risk? We have no idea what the long term effects are. The short term aren't looking good, either.

It's their choice to get it, but the best I can do is explain what the possible side effects can be.

That is true. On one hand, the vaccination helps with their fear that they will be hospitalized with the virus, and that is something, I guess.

Geert Bossche, a vaccine developer, warns that the vaccine may put people in even greater danger from future Covid variants. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJZxiNxYLpc&t=1485s Do they know? Why not wait a little while to see if it's safe?

What I mean is that I'm not speaking out of my ass just with what I want. I have more than just opinions and that's what they trust.
