Oof. Written by a man, no doubt. They don't have to endure agonizing pregnancies or deadly dangerous childbirths repeatedly, for the quiver to be full.

How does pointing out facts make me a weak bitch? Facts don't care about your feelings, and lighten up, Frances, it was said in jest. (And for the record, when I enlisted, I was required to carry the same 70 lb. backpack gear as my twin brother, even though I am female.)

Not even close. Women weren't allowed in combat when I enlisted---no infantry, artillery, mechanic pool. Only medical, communications, and NBC units. And I agreed with that arrangement. Nowadays, most warfare is waged using satellite technology, but back then, it was still almost all boots on the ground, hand to hand combat and M16s and armored vehicles. And even today, when push comes to shove, it takes muscle to get the job done, not simply training and resolve. Soldiers need to have the upper body strength to haul equipment and each other to safety. War is about defeating your enemy, not proving how "enlightened" your troops are; I don't give a crap about someone's fee-fees being hurt since they can't participate in a combat theater, because victory is more important than anyone's self-esteem or good publicity being fostered. And why the hell would any woman in her right mind want to jeapordize the life she is carrying, by putting it in harm's way? Pregnant women are known for having wild and irrational mood swings, a terrible thing when national defense and lives are at stake! Get pregnant while serving? Get leave of absence.
