No. You were not a big enough dick. Not knocking you for it you are probably a very polite nice person. But now is not the time to be nice. We need people in the medical field like you to stand up and educate these people on fake pandemics. But I understand your restraint.

This is exactly what they want.. for us to give up and give in.

I have tried as well. “ Muh, conspiracy theorist is trying to kill me with covid cooties! REEEEEE!!!!” Is their typical response.

I think they believe we will wear masks for life.

You cannot put sense into the head of a fool.

The day will come when you wish you had kicked the everlasting shit out of the first person who even suggested you should mask your face with the cursed commie symbol.

We have to be more nasty and more violent then the left at making our point. Scream into their faces and if they try to use violence to get their point across you come at them with overwhelming violence. Beat the fucking shit out of these mask faggots and they will go away.

I just say that it's nonfunctional because I glued it shut. Stops 'em every time.

I would have whipped out my prescription pad and written myself a medical exemption. Who has the authority now?

I mean at least give her credit. She understands how a mask with an expiratory valve works. But no, I don't think you should have said what you said. She is someone who is just doing her job. I doubt she read the science, her education comes from her college or high school teacher, and the mainstream media. Ignorance isn't stupidity. Educating her is one thing, calling her a stupid bitch is different.

On a separate note, back about a year ago the thing to say was "it doesn't protect me from you, it protects you from me." Always said by people as justification for wearing masks. Of course it made no sense, masks don't work one way only. They either work both ways or they don't work at all. But that's how it was justified. I'm a physician as well, and this line was told to me by other physicians when I told them that there is no scientific evidence that backs up mass masking. In fact all of the evidence in prior studies in influenza pointed to the opposite, and the studies done in covid 19 are equivocal at best. Which makes sense, since they wouldn't allow the publication of anything that questions the religious dogma. But my larger point is that even highly educated physicians can be fooled by the media. Everyone is now either brainwashed or bought and paid for. Our profession is sadly no different.

We all do stuff that in review doesn’t become us. I don’t think we ever feel proud of lowering ourselves a level. Learn from it, move on.

Don’t leave medicine, just find a better place to fit in it. Millions of conservatives were driven out of teaching. The schools have been abandoned and look what is happening because of that.

Maybe it’s not medicine, it’s where you are practicing medicine.

Give some thought to how life could look if you changed how/where/what you practiced.

Wish you well.

Anesthesiologist. Specifically cardiac subspecialty. Although this nonsense bothers me, I realized that this is human nature. It is much easier to go with the flow, than against it. Most of my colleagues early on were terrified of Covid. Hard to blame them, we all saw our entire 800+ bed tertiary care hospital become almost 100% covid patients, and we had to patients in places that weren't designed to hold patients. Even I briefly bought into it. I quickly realized that something didn't smell right about the whole situation, probably around the time that they claimed a handkerchief wrapped around your face was suitable face covering. Then a few months later I tested positive for covid antibodies. I knew I was sick, but it felt like a prolonged and more severe cold. This was before testing was a thing, I still came to work. Nobody got infected from me in our office. And that time elective surgeries were shut down, we spent a lot of time in the office. And in the off days I was cutting down trees in my yard. While sick with covid.

I don't know. I like what I do. I wouldn't do something else just because I'm surrounded by stupidity. Anywhere you go now, you're surrounded by stupidity. Especially if you live in a blue state like me. I'm disappointed in our profession, we should be better than this. We should be able to cut through the bullshit and look at science. But we're only human. And for most of us, fear is a very powerful motivator. And our elected leaders know this better than most of us. Which is how we got here. We used to be stronger. Keep calm and carry on was a line used by the brits in WW2 while they were being bombed. They didn't shut down. This virus has a 0.24% average mortality. The only reason we find ourselves here is because our elected/appointed/installed leaders are using it as leverage.

Holy text wall, Dr. Sleepy!

Nice point about the British invasion. Brits would be 3rd gen Germans by now if they had capitulated to the nazis like we've all done for the commie common cold.

I always enjoy reading your posts. Another good one. My neurologist just gave me the vaccine pep talk. I love the man, he’s a great doc, but made me sad.

2
BasedDoc 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks. Being an anesthesiologist most people don't ask me about vaccines. If I were asked, I'd tell them to do their own risk assessment. The known risk of the virus vs the unknown long term risk of the vaccine. People with serious medical conditions should strongly consider it. For one person in particular, I have recommended the vaccine. But it's not, and shouldn't be a one size fits all approach.

Kind of agree, but perhaps in a different context. I used be sad that the malls were dying (before COVID) and that retail was hurting so badly, but now I'm glad. I hope they all die, and fast, particularly the major chains. These are the same ones that fund BLM, etc. I'd rather see 2 local stores than 50 chains.

5
lixa 5 points ago +5 / -0

There are two kinds of stores in malls- chains, and chinese owned/supplied small stores and Chinese-supplied carts. Good riddens to all.

3
Kek_The_World 3 points ago +3 / -0

I haven’t been in a mall in a few years. Forgot they exist.

Well, when we're honest with ourselves we know when we've been an ass lol. And it's real easy to be pissed nowadays.

We all get caught up in emotions, particularly with this clown world we're living in, but I think that would have been a perfect time to tell her that you are a trained medical doctor and masks do not work, perhaps cite some reasons. There are some people who have never heard arguments against mask-wearing because of the media they ingest. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

Hearing valve and mask together reminds me of the gentleman that had a panhead mask someone posted the other day. You should have said it has three valves and then subtly turned to 3/4 blocking make her really try and inspect it.

Bazzellle 2 points ago +2 / -0

If the employee had any attitude toward a customer for any reason and especially about wearing masks, then I don't feel bad for her. There is a right way and wrong way for an employee to address customers. Politeness is key and simply say "I am sorry sir but HQ requires us to make these stipulations."

The mere fact she wanted to hand you a mask is further proof she is clueless and probably one of those folks you have to tell to wash thier hands in bathroom. That mask isn't sterile. No telling where those masks have been sitting or who all has touched them before her. Not to mention all the surfaces she has been touching before handing one to you.

Not at all, do not feel bad

2
lixa 2 points ago +2 / -0

You should've licked her face. Just kidding. But I would not have put on their mask. I would say because of germs, I can't take things that strangers are touching and put them on my face. Or just say nope. Or say ok no valve and take your mask off and don't put hers on. If the person you're with doesn't respect that it's better you found out then. I think going back and saying something you kind of missed the opportunity and it was jerky. Anyhow she's just an employee- make your point initially without resorting to personal insults for someone who isn't being rude really. That said we're being pushed too far on a regular basis and it comes out so it's understandable.

2
p1smo 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, you were a dick, but I also understand where you're coming from. The whole thing is arbitrarily ridiculous and pushing people to their limits. Sometimes the pot boils over. Next time though I'd find another outlet for your frustration than the random retail employee just trying to get a paycheck.

2
Proud_American 2 points ago +2 / -0

Guilt is like swiftly moving traffic. You identify it...and you watch it go by.

All seriousness, it would have been less of a retort if you’d said something immediately as opposed to stewing on it and letting it fester. Still, it’s maddening to have a low level employee of low age injecting themselves into your life at the behest of the state.

Stupid bitch. Fucking valve?

jigglyp33n 1 point ago +1 / -0

H95 masks have valves.

You called a random employee who was just doing what she had to in order to keep her job and pay her rent a "stupid bitch"? Yea that was 100% uncalled for. Say those words to your governor who actually implements the mandates. Don't shit on poor as fuck mall employees who are just doing what they've been told to.
