I saw this video and discussion last night on PT News Channel on YT. There were alot of mixed comments. How is Abbott going to lift the mask mandate statewide, but if a business like a bank wants to enforce masks, then law enforcement must comply and enforce this? Seems ridiculous.
Apparently there is a clause in the Abbott edict where businesses can keep mandates and the mask off is only for public spaces. This officer should have taken the woman outside and informed her of the particulars instead of trying to arrest her inside the bank.

Went out yesterday to celebrate the lifting of mask mandates. I only saw one young girl without one. I’m in north central Texas. Everyone wears them and many wear gloves too. And about a thousand Karens on our neighborhood site shaming those who want to take off masks. Shaming, using Christianity as their weapon. I just want to know where are all the true Texans? It feels more like Commifornia here now.
Texan here, too. There is hope. Stopped into a Race Trac gas station in Terrell yesterday, and most people going in were not wearing masks. I’d say it was a 60/40 split.
You gotta get away from the cities. Thay are really fucked up. Terrell is just on the edge. I regularly drive across Texas and I would say mask wearing has been about 40/60 consistently across the state with mask wearing dropping only slightly since Abbot removed his mandate. None of the stores dont care but still put up signs due to corporate directives. I wore a mask the first few months of 2020 till I got a handle on what this virus was, but haven't worn one since and have never been challenged.

Because Abbott’s move to lift the mandate was counterfeit. He tried to make himself look like Desantis (after getting obliterated in that CPAC poll) but it doesn’t work if you don’t go all the way and make sure people can’t be FORCED to wear the mask or receive penalties for it.

If you want to refuse service for any reason you must have locked doors and be appointment only, etc. the second you unlock your doors and let people freely waltz in uninvited then you can no longer refuse them service.
But that’s the thing about HIPAA, it’s a health information privacy act. She could have a medical condition that could prevent her from wearing the mask and she should not be asked nor forced to reveal it to gain access to a particular service.
She also should not have to present her vaccination records either. I wanna know if there are any HIPAA lawsuits getting started because I would totally sue on that basis.
She never said anything about having a medical issue preventing her from wearing a mask. If that is the case then all she had to do was say so. She would not have to reveal specifics and that would have changed the situation. That isn't what happened.

Private companies can refuse service for any reason outside of race religion or sex. They SHOULD be able to refuse service for ANY reason.
Then we all need to pass laws banning the mandatory use of face masks in all places.
