That wouldn’t surprise me. Not all, but some number of girls who are sexually abused gain weight in an effort to be less appealing to abusers. Other ways of being less appealing wouldn’t surprise me either.
I kind of understand some of the FTMs. I went through puberty early and looked older than I was and I felt sad because I felt like a child but I looked older. Because of my appearance men would be interested in me in "that way" but since I was still rather young it was confusing and scary. It felt like puberty was prematurely taking my childhood away from me. Obviously I grew out of it and I'm very happy with who I am, but for some women you can go through a phase where puberty is distressing. I think these girls take pills to stave off the discomfort, but it's a huge price to pay for a phrase you'll grow out of pretty soon.
That’s another good point. I hadn’t thought of this sort of emotional reason for taking puberty blockers. There’s also just the usual puberty confusion that may cause kids to think of blocking puberty as a “solution” to unease, and they gain social status and special treatment based on “oppression” at the same time.
Yeah, the social clout that's come with transitioning is really scary. A lot of these kids seem to have other issues going on but instead they're encouraged to take carcinogenic hormone "therapy" and undergo pointless surgeries by these cheerleaders who abandon them as soon as they regret their decision. It's really sad.
There is always - ALWAYS - trauma involved.
I guessing some of them are molested at a younger age so they believe that if they look like a dude, it won't happen again.

100% this.
For MTF they are almost always either just gay or have a developed fetish about being a girl (keep your kids away from porn!).

I had enough problems as a kid without having to deal with stuff like this. Now everything seems like more of a nightmare.
Here she says she hated her body. I guess that would be traumatic. If she had been molested she’d likely say so as part of her story.
The internet is a giant validation machine, and if women don’t get the validation they expect then some of them do stupid things to get it.
