The concept of a "tomboy" was encouraged in the early 1900s as a way to improve female health and, by consequence, improve the health of the children they make. Overall, it's a good thing.

What were seeing now is paid for by the pharmaceutical industry. Trans people are a clusterfuck physically and mentally, and ripe targets for them, they take loads of medication.
