I think that likely applies to my sister. Or used to anyway. In HS she didn't get much attention from guys and was kinda awkward. She fit in well with the artsy theatre band type girls cliques and most of them were also not favored much by the guys.
So no boyfriend throughout high school she became a lesbian for a handful of her early 20s. Now she has a kid though, so crisis averted. Once she realized if she put the effort guys would fall all over her.
Don't know any trans people but the "raped as a kid so now I'm gay" isn't an uncommon tale I've heard in my life.
