Fort Mcpherson was put on the BRAC list in 2005 (it takes like 6 years to decommission a military base).
Redevelopment plans fell through three separate times, because it was too expensive- old mil bases are like superfund sites. He got 330 acres of it basically for cost of the land, because you can't turn it into housing or commercial buildings without 100's of millions in EPA-mandated cleanup. Not because his buddy Orpah asked for a favor from Obummer.
