Texan here.
Went to both Microcenter and Bestbuy yesterday.... without a mask. Both stores had signs posted all over the front windows "MASKS REQURED TO ENTER".
-
Microcenter: I was the only one that entered and shopped without a mask. Walked around, did my shopping. Not one single word (or cross look) was said by anyone.
-
Bestbuy: On the way in, there was a greeter holding a mask as I walked close and said "Would you like a mask?". I blurted out "No", and just kept walking. I could hear him say in a sarcastic voice under is breath "Ok". Did my shopping without anyone bothering me, and no cross looks.
Fuck face masks.
My only comment is you will win more people over by also being polite. I think to the latter person you should have smiled and said "no thank you, I don't need it." And left it at that.
If they ask questions, you can always show them a picture of one of those masks boxes that tells you flat out that they don't protect against the Rona (https://photos.app.goo.gl/sVXYQGRvieMmDBf4A)
People have been super nice to me when I shop without a mask. I return their courtesy.
Yea, no need to be unnecessarily confrontational. You're not convincing anyone by being obnoxious, even if you are right. Plus, you make it harder for others not to wear a mask because they get branded as annoying, or worse.
