Two layers of his government (the Jewish court and the Jewish king) wanted him dead, and another layer of government (the Roman prefect) approved it.
Pontius Pilate being reluctant adds much dramatic depth to the story (I especially like the version by Bulgakov), but that doesn't change the outcome. Claiming to be reluctant is easy...
You claimed that Jesus being murdered by his government "is not accurate". He most certainly was.
Pilate supposedly being reluctant before ordering Roman soldiers to torture and kill Jesus is irrelevant.
And you can't blame it on the Jews as a whole. Most of the first Christians were Jews, and just because others didn't buy his claims about being "the messiah" doesn't mean they wanted him dead. And it wasn't the Jews that killed him.
Claiming that it wasn't the Jews that killed him is a little disingenuous considering you admit that the Sanhedrin already wanted him dead by the time he was sent before Herod Antipas and Pilate. Using the phrase "the Jews" does not necessarily equate to lumping in the entirty of the Jewish populaition.
Would the Romans have killed him without the same sentiment from Jewish authorities? Probably, but only if he demonstrated that he was a threat to their rule in the region. Sure Romans killed other Messiah claimants as well, but your own source demonstrates the key difference. The other claimants were killed only after they led armed revolts against Roman rule. As far as we can see, Jesus Christ/ of Nazareth never did so. Based on accounts from the New Testament, he never intended to, and that was part of the reason why his claim to being the Messiah is not traditionally believed.
Sure, we can sit around and circle jerk about whether Pilate's reluctance to kill Jesus was just theatrics, but what would the point of said theatrics be? Considering Jesus had broken no laws against the Roman government, there was no legitimate reason under Roman law to have him killed.
Pilot was no different than SCOTUS. He did whatever was necessary to appease the elite powers. The problem was not the Jews, but ROME's reaction if the Jews rebelled over preventing them from killing Jesus.
No. WE (Christians) WIN. There is no salvation without the sacrifice and resurrection. The Jews and Romans were merely pawns moved about to accomplish GOD's will.
Why do communists who hate God insist on trying to use "clever" anecdotes about the life of that same God to help their agenda? God will not be mocked, FAFO.
This was a reply to Canadian-raised Indian Kamala Harris?
@VP
A mentally ill heathen illegal anchor baby said something on their Silicon Valley machine and then comes along this nobody crazy person who then mocks the religion of a billion people.
If you put Hogg and Kamala together, you would get Barry Obama.
Weren't invented yet... also he had something called, the ability to perform miracles and apparently drop people by the sound of his voice alone.... which is a bit more powerful than an AR-15 especially since I can put the thing on my junk and cook off an entire 30 rd mag and be completely fine...
why would you engage with such a retarded question and provide such a retarded answer. Answered the question instead of changing the frame and calling that fag hogg out for saying something so retarded
35 Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?”
“Nothing,” they answered.
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[a]; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
Today's ADL.
Kek
You are inaccurate.
Judaea had multiple layers of government. Jesus had three trials: Sanhedrin, Herod, and Pilate.
Two layers of his government (the Jewish court and the Jewish king) wanted him dead, and another layer of government (the Roman prefect) approved it.

plot twist: 6 trials.

I'm not a biblical scholar and stumbled across this thread by accident, autist mode engaged, found the link above.
Now I'm WTF..... reading, checking, reading checking.
Now I'm embarassed to admit I didn't know what was obvious the whole time.

Oh, you are a retarded troll. Thanks for letting me know.

Who's blaming GOD for accomplishing HIS WILL? GOD is not incompetent.
cringe rhetoric

"Sell your cloak and buy a sword" -Jesus
...the AR-15 of that day!
Jesus’s disciples were armed.
Waiting for Hogg to transition.
A better question would be, "How many dicks has David Hogg sucked?".
ALL OF THEM !!! Still does.
He could walk on water. How many did he need.
He could also have called upon an army of angels if he was inclined to deviate from GOD's plan.
true that.
"Oops, sorry, Centurion. I must have dropped them the last time I took a walk on the sea..."
he could probably have turned into a frog or switch to someone else if he wanted to.

Hogg actually thinks that's an argument? He should be kicked out of college for that knucklehead retort.
They both know that an AR-15 is LESS powerful than Jesus right? Jesus was never in any real danger.
DAMN! XD
Clearly he’s never heard of Forgotten Weapons
Jesus strikes me as a FN F2000 sort of Lord.

Didnt he tell his buddies to buy swords?
Jesus was and is pro 2A.
Luke 22:35-39
35 Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?”
“Nothing,” they answered.
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[a]; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. 38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
“That’s enough!” he replied.
Is this considered anti-semitic?
You'll never be a real woman.
