Yup, you don't even need religion to justify it. I don't believe in god, but all religions are basically lessons our ancestors learned the hard way, and we just threw them out as if they somehow were outdated. All the religious texts are treatises on human psychology and behavior; we ignored them to our own peril.

I've said many times that if people uniformly followed the Bible's pattern for marriage and faithful relationships, most of society's problems would melt away.

I actually agree with this. I don't think the extremely strict "no sex before marriage" thing is feasible, but I can see how easily that gets out of hand at the same time. I wonder if compromising and basically shaming women for not being married by 25 would work, rather than try to put the cat back in the bag. A lot of women are finding that putting out for the top 10% of guys is basically leaving them childless and alone in their 30s, so things are starting to reach a tipping point either way.

Just for perspective when that was written if you had a good family you would have been married by the time you hit the age where it matters, also concubines were a thing.
