My grandmother screamed at me when I told her I had come to the conclusion that Covid, while being a real virus, was nothing more than a cold. I'm an RN, she was an RN and it was like I had said something horrible like God is a pedophile. She flipped out. I haven't talked to her in 2 months, she also got very irate in defending Biden. We live 1,000 miles apart, she's 87 and I really have to call her very soon or I'll never forgive myself. My main problem with her is while growing up (grandparents raised me in Alabama) I heard them both say the most racist shit I'd ever heard - still beats anything since then and it is fucking ridiculous that I'm called a racist when I damn well know the truth about a LOT of Democrats. I heard the N word so often it stopped shocking me eventually. My best friend from school is black and after moving from Kentucky to Bama we kept in touch, she even flew down and sang at my wedding. Basically, I didn't give a shit what anyone thought. But again, I'm the racist one. Family members being self righteous sheep is just one more thing to add to the pile of resentments.
You can't combat paranoia/fear/hysteria/whatever with logic and reason. Just hit them up with a lie like "Already got mine through work/school/pop up clinic" or just a simple "I'm not getting it" and disengage.
Can’t see my only grandchild unless I face diaper, my daughter was at my parents for Christmas and thanksgiving with no mask while pregnant. Once people swallow this garbage there is almost no hope.
Ive been anti authoritarian my whole life, so im pretty immune to woke scolding from anyone, especially my parents.
I love my family, but they aren't anyone I would take advice from. I don't take financial advice from people who dont have their finances in order, relationship advice from people on their 3rd divorce, or life advice from people on anti depressants/anti anxiety/bipolar medication.
I would literally go get actual covid for actual antibodies though. If I could get a couple weeks off work, id beg my boss to let me get it. 😂
