Freedom comes with responsibilities.

Sadly, most people do not want to be free.

They were born with it. They didn't have to spill blood and go through hardship to earn it. Of course they will hold freedom in low regard.

It's a combination of good times breeding weak men, and the necessity to work to feed your family to the point where parents can't dedicate the necessary time for their children's education. Throw in shitty schools in the mix, and this is what you get.

Those idiots are going to learn some hard lessons in the very near future.
