Grew up in a cult. You are 100% correct.

It took over a decade to fully heal from the damage they did.

It cost me my family and 20 years of friends to leave, the mental escape was not easy or instant.

I'm glad you found your path out. It's pale in comparison but I can relate to having to purge an entire life time of friends and family. Even if they weren't good times, all the happy memories I had were from those times. Takes a long time to replaced 20 years of good memories with better memories and even longer to drown out the bad memories. I truly hope you've found your path to back to happiness. :)

I've always been annoyed at how Cult gets thrown around, especially towards groups I think are producing better end results and living happier lives.

Really takes away from the seriousness of Cults that are destroying lives.
