When did it go from “the humanities are a waste,” to “all college is a waste?”

I didn’t become a student until my late 20s, so I had a life both with and without a degree. My life after getting my degree is so much different than the life before. If you pay attention and apply yourself in college, you can get a ton out of it. Especially when it comes to learning how to learn.

Was it worth what I paid? Well, I’ve made back what I spent several times over already, at a pay scale about 3x what I was making before I got it, even though I’m not employed in the field where I earned my degree. But it was still my degree that got me the job.

We mainly need better guidance counselors in High School that can help direct students into the best option for them, instead of college degrees for everybody. You can make just as much money in the trades, and they’re in dire need of new blood.

The moment postmondernism infiltrated STEM.

... because you didn’t went into with that mentality ... you actually had wisdom and experience going in ... you bought skill training, while most, and I’m sure you experienced this is in college, went in thinking they could “find themselves”

Can't even buy a lifetime of education in that timeframe (though it can be had for a lot less money).

The world would be so much simpler if wisdom and knowledge were related to each other. It's hard to find wisdom in college, that's by design. You'll find some knowledge though, enough to make money.
