At the end of December, despite the unemployment rate, CA had a $19 billion surplus (which may trigger a refund to taxpayers because of the large deficit but CA is technically not decreasing taxes) so Nancy is playing around with the terms of distributing funds.
Generally, red states have lower unemployment rates because they did not shut down as hard but now she is trying to handicap those states by limiting what the get in Covid-19 relief and further trying to control the States by penalizing them if they offer tax relief to their residents.
Nancy Pelosi's abuse of power is unprecedented. She needs to be removed and the States certainly need to push back on her efforts to control the States.
At the moment Congress does nothing but harass the citizens of the US. Biden is in the WH signing EOs--there are no discussions or debates going on. Let us be governed by our States and get the Federal government out of the way.
The Democratic Party can put whatever they want in bills. Just because they put it there and sign off on it does not give it weight of law. All laws must mesh with the constitution, when they don't do that they are unconstitutional and thus null & void.
The states do not need to go to SCOTUS to beg them for a favorable ruling. The states just need to say "Nope, not constitutional, fuck you not doing that." It's really just that simple. The state legislators who fail to do this are either stupid or are frauds.
We that, at least, is somewhat reassuring.

One thing about the Supreme Court, their job is supposed to be interpreting and applying the law and Constitution, but like the rest of the courts in America, they seem to see themselves as legislators for social justice.

It is taxpayer money and I call this abuse of power. I call it unfair. I do not see it as a bribe. Governors should be able to do what is best for their states and not have to be dictated to by the federal government.

When Obama first got into office and Dems had both houses, unemployment and food stamps went through the roof.
PA did a study that came out with $55,000 as the number (and this is going back over 10 years) that if you earned below that, it did not pay you to work. There was unemployment, food stamps, Obamacare and housing to help those that did not have jobs--you got $55,000 per annum. Why look for a job?
