They were more than happy to oppress business owners and force them to do business with people they'd choose not to, had they a choice. That's communism, that's a boot on the neck of businesses telling them who they must do business with, even if it destroys the business.
People can go to great lengths to justify whatever behaviors they choose. The police officers in the US are already protecting a tyrannical, unconstitutional government, since 1930. They are already being trained like military police in a war zone.
I like your optimism but the big cities and counties are truely fucked I think. They took a knee for BLM and turned a blind eye to antifa beating on old women. They need to earn my trust back because as of right now I have zero trust in any law or military getting a government pension. Look at how LEOs enforced draconian arbitrary covid lockdowns all over the US even after the data was showing the virus as 99.7% survial rate.
Little caveat... Atleast half, probably way more than that, of the police officers in the US will not enforce some facist Communist takeover.
