It's not completely unreasonable to think that someone who hates mask mandates would go out of their way to do this after becoming aware of his interview on CNN.
That said, it doesn't take a genius to see that it is entirely counter-intuitive, if you're against masks.
So yeah, someone could have done this, but you would have to be really stupid to think that it would have any positive effect on the mask mandate.
If you start to consider that perhaps this is a hoax, there is more to lend credibility to that than to it being legitimate.
The owner, who is an outspoken leftist, now gets to present his/her self as a martyr. They absolutely LOVE that. They are all constantly trying to become martyrs for their cause. They'll come out and say "we will not be intimidated, so now they're "brave" martyrs.
It's extending their 15 minutes of fame. They landed a spot on CNN. Sky's the limit. How else can they stay relevant? Become victims of a hate crime for their "bravery". More opportunities.
People who believe them will go out of their way to patronize their business. More money.
The "victims" benefit far more than any damage could be done to them.
