Why in the hell did the Galveston PD attack the 65 year old lady? Weren't there any toddlers around???

Here’s the context. The body cam video was quickly sent to the local media before the 6 pm news. She gets taken to the hospital for injuries. She leaves and apparently has a warrant out on her. Video Link Fox 26

I wonder how the police would have handled it if the 65 year old was poc? Would the bank now be burned to the ground and the police need to stop a riot?

~ Bank of America refused woman service due to no mask and asked her to leave

~ BoA called cops when she refused to leave

~woman asked to close her accounts and collect her money presumably because of the mask dispute, bank employees refused to give her her money without woman wearing mask....a Mexican standoff

~ cop trespassed her (ordered her to leave based on the BoA folks saying she had to go

~ woman refused,

~cop told her he was going to arrest her, and that's when she started backing toward the door (presumably to leave)

~cop didn't resolve the situation by simply following her outside to put an end to the issue, he arrested her and threw her to the ground in the process

It's a private property rights issue. The woman was in the wrong, even though I disagree with mask requirements, generally. It's their bank, their rules.

Imagine you drop off your car at a service station for an oil change. An hour later, when you walk in to pick it up, they refuse to let you into the building or give you your car unless you put on a klu klux klan hoodie.

Then they call the cops on you for ‘trespassing’ and you are attacked and arrested when you question the policeman’s legal authority to use police powers to enforce a clearly immoral and legally questionable policy in light of a private dispute where the other party is refusing to release your property back to you — property vital to your immediate survival.

There’s much more at stake here than simple ‘private property rights’.

That's a good point, one I had not considered. This woman had a pre-established relationship with the bank, presumably before it required muzzles. The bank changed the terms of the relationship unilaterally. I think you have changed my mind.

This mirrors the example that I just gave to my wife when discussing this. She also framed it as a private business issue, which it is, but they can't simply make up arbitrary rules that you never agreed to when you entered into the business relationship.

The whole thing could have been resolved easily by simply letting her close her account and then issuing a trespass order against her so she can never return to the bank.

We also need to let go of this idea that property ownership, particularly by corporations, grants some kind of liege lordship over anyone who steps foot into your tiny kingdom.

A few retaliatory beatings would cure society of this attitude. Notice how these same employees don’t try this shit on black folks? It’s because they fear consequences.

This might be a good way to terminate my lease early. Building management now requires mask in common areas...gym, pool, dayroom, even hallway. I never agreed to that when I signed my lease

She was legally asked to leave, correct.

The cop DID then violate her, his treatment of her resulted in at least 3 broken bones.

The cop needs to be fired then charged. The Lady, Texas Patriot Lady, was taken to hospital and released, when she called the cops a sargent supervisor told her she was not arrested or charged, which is a false thing. She obviously was arrested, they just wish to crawdad. It's why they released the vids so quick, and they are still holding her dog, or were yesterday. The testosterone cop, as the Texas Lady Patriot calls him, threatened her with an additional fine for having her dog in the truck, windows down of course because the Texas Lady Patriot loves her dog.

This isn't over, we are calling and writing and raising heck, BoA is in for it now, the Galveston cops are in for it now. That cop who DID beat up and break bones in the Texas Patriot Lady's foot needs a beat down and then jail. What he did to that Texas Lady Patriot would get him shot by any of us who saw him attack our Wives so.

Tyranny, terrorism, NAZIs at work. What is really disturbing is the fact NO ONE came to her aid. Galveston achieves vacuum, but then it has for years now, avoid Galveston, go to Surfside or Freeport instead.

Can someone "legally" make you leave, if they are holding your property hostage?

4
CovfefeNegro 4 points ago +5 / -1

Yeah sure, they must offer you 'some' accommodation but sure. You agree to 'their' terms and conditions when you join them or open accounts or whatever, always read the fine print. No one reads the fine print tho.

This Texas Patriot Lady could not use the drive thru because she had a trailer behind her truck, so she went in. Management handled that terribly, and it's gonna come back to haunt them, not that they care. they could have ushered her into a room, dealt with her privately, it is done all the time.

Used to be called 'customer service' but not today huh. The bank chose to be hostile, the cop chose to be a NAZI, the Texas Lady Patriot simply chose Truth and dignity.

I betcha she even donates most of her settlement to charity.

Cops and banks make a living stealing from people.

2
BrewSwillis 2 points ago +2 / -0

Settlement? You didn't say she was black! 😄

5
CovfefeNegro 5 points ago +5 / -0

Nope, this Patriot Texas Lady isn't black but she now has medical expenses, plus they jailed her dog, the media is telling her she will be arrested again too.

She may well forgive them all, if you watch her extended interview she is quite gracious and polite, charming really. But this cannot pass unchallenged and she knows it. When told that the cops said they wanted to arrest her she said 'well maybe they'll beat me up again'.

Bless her heart, if she asks for help she WILL get it. Not in that bank but yeah.

Sure their bank their rules no doubt. They did need to let her close her account though. Face diaper or no.

AlabamaSlamma 4 points ago +4 / -0

It is their property, and their right, but that doesn't mean we have to be quiet about it.

Look at the cake baker and how the left treated him.

2
Necrovoter 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's a private property rights issue.

It isn't a private property issue. As with any bank, they had a signed contract with how her money was handled and how she could close an account. Their new mask policy isn't included in that contract. They are still bound by the prior contract. They are free to give her her money and close out the account and then ask her to leave.

Furthermore - they are a business open to the public and governed by such laws.

If a bank threw out a customer for being black, would you say "It's a private property issue"? No - you wouldn't.

For all you amateur constitutionalists, let's do a little math:

individual rights > business rights

Full stop.

3
Necrovoter 3 points ago +3 / -0

Businesses don't have ANY rights under the US Constitution. Citizens have rights, and states have rights. The federal government has some designated powers.

3
VivaElEmperadorDios 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thank you. Even if they did, they are, as all rights are, secondary to the rights of the individual.

Look at public accommodations. That’s all you need to know. Private does not mean you get to decide who comes in.

Yes, call them, I did yesterday. Galveston is a very touristy place, they’re not a small town community. Some of those folks at the bank, were probably on vacation, and didn’t want to go to jail too, but the cop, was way out of line. I looked into moving there roughly 20 years ago, what deterred me was I had a young daughter at the time, and I’d looked up sex offenders in the area, there were over 500 on the island. I realized...well where would sex offenders go? of course, where small kids are half dressed at the beach, freakin pervs.

They like islands
