My Father (Marine) fought the Chinese in N. Korea under Chesty Puller at the Chosin Reservoir when he made this quote. They were surrounded by Chinese (much like today) and, although vastly outnumbered, the majority of our troops managed to escape alive.

Reading accounts of what's currently happening in the military I think I can safely say that most of today's Officer Corps couldn't come close to holding Gen. Puller's ammo belt.

Where the Hell do you put the bayonet?" (He said this while at a flamethrower demonstration. Apparently, Puller wanted to be ready to stab the men he set on fire.)

Read more about this great American Hero: We sure could use more of his type today.

That simplifies things.

This is exactly the mentality we should have right now. Once we identify the enemy, studying history will show us their battle strategies. That understanding is a powerful weapon. Thanks for introducing me to the Gen.
