The only exception I'd make is a widow. It's much more an aversion to the woman than the child. If she's divorced or never married there's a good chance she's fucked one guy over and will do it again, she might still be involved with the babydaddy(s), etc. Too many clear and obvious warning signs.
I'm not saying buying new is generally feasible unless you grew up Mormon, but I'll go for the later model with less miles, better compression, and no engine knock.
