Even with those massively relaxed standards, they're still complaining. Oddly enough one of the first female rangers came out against relaxing standards further. Albeit, she got through on the Army cutting her slack, but even she sees that dropping standards further is a problem. Take her word for what it's worth, I guess.

sorry for your nephew -- its tough to get into many of the upper echelon force but its even more devastating when you do and an injury knocks you out!

The vast majority of military jobs are support / non-combat, and there's an argument to be made that you don't really need to be able to do ANY push ups to be good at your desk job.

But the Rangers and other "tip of the spear" combat roles? Dropping standards for the sake of inclusion is pure idiocy.
