when i was in, everytime i saw a pog unit doing a hike, all the women were falling out carrying nothing and the men were carrying the womens packs in addition to their own.

Carried an extra ruck once or twice for women during a 12 mile road march in PLDC. I think they were around 40lbs which is nothing. They simply couldn't keep up, so we went back and carried part of their load for them. Not to say there weren't exceptions though.

In regular light infantry line unit, it wasn't uncommon for rucks to weigh 100+ pounds.

Lowe rucksack with LBV - 3 days of mre's, 4 qts of water, 210 rounds of ammo, 2 frags, mortar rounds, 2 radios with 2 batteries each, star clusters, a couple of illum flares, then comes your comfort of life items, sleeping bag, poncho, woobie, sleeping mat, bungee cords, socks, toiletries, baby wipes, stove, etool, compass, map, maglite, and weapons cleaning kit.

Is it any wonder why my back is trashed today.
