The State is an inherently illegitimate institution of organized aggression, of organized and regularized crime against the persons and properties of its subjects… a profoundly antisocial institution which lives parasitically off of the productive activities of private citizens.

― Murray N. Rothbard

SevenThunders 48 points ago +49 / -1

Anarcho capitalist thinking. Pretty much correct. I like to tell my leftist friends and relatives that the only purpose of the state and the only thing it's good at is to hurt people and break things.

When functioning correctly, it hurts and breaks criminals and psychopaths. However in recent years the state is the psychopath.

7
iDinduNuffin 7 points ago +7 / -0

Why do you like to tell them that and then be surprised the state became the psychopath?

Its only purpose is to help secure the liberties of the People.

6
SevenThunders 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yes and how has that "securing the liberties" worked out for us recently?

2
iDinduNuffin 2 points ago +2 / -0

You surrender it to people who don't give a shit about your liberties. It's working out exactly as you should expect.

Reading books, highlighting/saving gems like this or in some cases stumbling upon them online from various sources.

I believe this particular quote is from Anatomy of the State:

This fact is true of every government in every country at every time in history: The State is always and has always been nothing more than other people, and usually strangers, at that; people in their right minds should not trust their welfare to strangers, whom may be sincere but foolish, or insincere and wicked.

-1
Hedonismbot -1 points ago +7 / -8

I think that's a little bit of a flawed notion (I get you're taking just a piece of a persons works which are much more detailed though, just having some academic discussion) because we all by virtue of living in a society are consenting to a social contract. Furthermore, I'd argue that within the American social contract is the recognition and participation in governance.

Of, by, and for the people. Now that, little notion may have changed a bit over the years though!

9
Lepreco-Inc 9 points ago +12 / -3

Fuck your social contract. We have a constitution, anything violating it is illegitimate and should be resisted.

15
randomusers239874 15 points ago +16 / -1

The constitution is literally a social contract. It only works when the parties agree to it.

7
MAGAsJustBegun 7 points ago +7 / -0

Same with treaties. Or deals. Look at the Iran nuclear deal. Iran didn't hold up their end, so neither did we.

Point is, these things only mean anything if people are forced to keep their word. Break the deal, treatise, constitution, ect... Then you face hefty consequences.

That's how it should be.

5
War_Hamster 5 points ago +5 / -0

There's been debate throughout the years on this, but the consensus definitely agrees with you.

I've been upholding my end of the deal. So what is the recourse when they've upheld NONE of their parts?

6
iDinduNuffin 6 points ago +6 / -0

Read the Declaration of Independence. The Founders literally wrote it all down for you.

2
AgnesDomini 2 points ago +2 / -0

And contracts are nullified when one party breaches obligations on its part...if Congress fails to uphold their oaths of office, then the People are not obligated to abide by their laws. The vote of the People is their consent to allow the officials to SERVE the interests of the People and to represent the concerns of the People in exchange for a salary and authority to legislate, and the oath sworn constitutes the agreement on the part of the officials to do so.

0
NullifyAndSecede 0 points ago +4 / -4

The Constitution has no inherent authority or obligation. It has no authority or obligation at all, unless as a contract between man and man. And it does not so much as even purport to be a contract between persons now existing. It purports, at most, to be only a contract between persons living eighty years ago. And it can be supposed to have been a contract then only between persons who had already come to years of discretion, so as to be competent to make reasonable and obligatory contracts. Furthermore, we know, historically, that only a small portion even of the people then existing were consulted on the subject, or asked, or permitted to express either their consent or dissent in any formal manner. Those persons, if any, who did give their consent formally, are all dead now. Most of them have been dead forty, fifty, sixty, or seventy years. And the Constitution, so far as it was their contract, died with them.

― Lysander Spooner

2
NullifyAndSecede 2 points ago +4 / -2

Government is in reality established by the few; and these few assume the consent of all the rest, without any such consent being actually given.

The constitution is not in any sense a contract among people presently alive.

Atílis Gym Bellmawr in NJ had their doors boarded up by the govt then just broke it down.

They pulled their doors off the hinges and took shifts keeping the place open 24 hours so they couldn’t be locked out.

To this day they’re still open

9
Populist_Leader 9 points ago +9 / -0

The issue with America, unlike European countries per se, is that we are widely spread out. If you live in Denmark, you can be across the country for a protest in hours.

It will take an insane grassroots networking efforts in at least 25-33% of locked down localities to create change.

Look to Italy where 50k restaurants formed a coalition and opened all at once. The government couldn’t stop them. In places like LA county, multiple businesses need to announce opening all at once.

That’s the “freedoms back” phase. The next is the arguably most difficult: getting the country back. That would require mass targeting of media outlets/journalists/corrupt politicians/teachers/etc. and likely bloodshed

They are so graciously allowing restaurants to open at 25% occupancy but only people from the same family can eat out. How do you even make money opening with those restrictions? At that point it’s probably better just to stay closed.

5
bangbus 5 points ago +5 / -0

Three years later: “how could we have known that running off all the businesses in our town would ruin the property tax rolls? Give us more money!!!”

5
thisisatestof2 5 points ago +5 / -0

In New England, most movie theaters, despite being allowed to reopen by the state, have remain closed and will reevaluate sometime in April. The amount of restrictions placed on, At one point They were restricted to something like 100 people, including staff, in the building and no concessions allowed.

In my area two locations, completely unannounced to any local officials or property owners, showed up one day with some construction dumpsters and box trucks went in removed any valuable equipment from the building such as projectors, sound systems, Concessions equipment, etc. and then went in and slashed all the screens and destroyed Or tossed anything they didn’t want, dropped off the keys to the landlord and walked away.

After months of being forced to close local officials were all shocked how could they do this?

4
bangbus 4 points ago +4 / -0

Wow. I’ll bet the goons in local government have never had a real job and never read Atlas Shrugged.

“It will take millions to restore,” said Springfield attorney Jeffrey E. Poindexter.."

Imagine being named the old timey word for super nerd loser. Is that a jewish name?

3

I wound't be shocked inf they find a way to pressure the RINO Gov. to bail out a failing movie theater industry.

4
Heywood_youblowme 4 points ago +4 / -0

Seems like the mall was trying to collect rent from them when they're not allowed to operate their business too. What the fuck is going on? I don't blame them one bit for what they did.

4
thisisatestof2 4 points ago +4 / -0

The mall they were in is a less than desirable section of Springfield, had lost all of their anchor stores, and only had a hand full of national chain tenants and last saw full occupancy in the mid-2000s.

These officials don't see the line they're crossing into tyranny. Pray night and day that the eyes of their heart will be opened. They need to see how far they're transgressing against moral citizens and how forgiving and patient conservatives are being. Conservatives so greatly want and pray for peace. We're enduring stolen elections, our earned wealth stolen from us, invasion across our borders, propagandizing our news, and on and on.

2
Manofmanytrades 2 points ago +2 / -0

They are seriously furious at the amount of energy required for cryptocurrency and nfts and such.

While they are typing furiously on their phones connected to chargers all day while streaming woke Star Wars or binge watching Marvel movies. Then they have to charge their apple watch and iPad and download games on their switch.

Not to mention the infrastructure that uses energy to allow all this to happen.

But a handful of people using what we already have (an energy surplus) is bad. Even if it is bad, it is not the Fed- it's the egg that will soon one day hatch a viable alternative currency that is fully decentralized.

This isn't going to work.

Isolated acts of defiance such as this must be made examples of by the despotic state.

The sheep will naturally succumb to death and slavery on their own, regardless of how many people stand up to totalitarian regimes and how. So these little displays of non compliance really make no difference in the long run.

But, in order to fully cement their dominance over the sheep, the despotic state must make examples out of non conformers. If not to fully demoralize the few who would still consider putting up any resistance, but to demonstrate to the sheep who's in charge. And by that time, the sheep are usually so far gone that they are clamoring for such non conformers to be put down.

Passive aggressiveness doesn't serve any purpose. We'll have to take the offensive.

8
CA4Newscum 8 points ago +8 / -0

The attitude is all wrong here. Starting with negatives is the first thing that must be changed to take the offensive. The rewrite can be summed up as:

"We must encourage others to do more of this"....blahblahblah...positive messaging to civil disobedience.

I’m from this city, and I’m part of the “City of Burbank” Facebook group (I do Facebook advertising for a living so I have to still use that cesspool of a website)

But literally every 2-3 day for the past 8 weeks there’s a post about Tinhorn Flats, it always starts with a lefty foaming at the mouth that the world should collapse around the owner, and then patriots come out and defend it. Honestly Tinhorn Flats has been at least 33-50% of the entirety of the discussions on that site.

6
RegularAmerican 6 points ago +6 / -0

Are they the only ones doing this?

4
LolOkFBI 4 points ago +4 / -0

In Burbank it seems to be so, but the reality is I don’t know. Tinhorn Flats is a great example of how destructive the media/social media is. Tinhorn Flats would have never received the treatment it’s received if it weren’t for almost daily calls for it to be shut down and it’s owner to be prosecuted. Talk about a witch hunt, just check out the City of Burbank Facebook page, people have been calling for the owners death and hooting and hollering every time the county made a move against the business.

It all started with a video someone posted of being outside in the patio enjoying their time with the mask off, people started losing their shit and calling the mob on the business. It eventually escalated to some sort of dispute in front of the business where someone got stabbed (highly out of the norm for Burbank) and it’s just ran downhill.

The owner is based as fuck, and you would be surprised how high the percentage of people in California are actually as based as fuck, they just like the views and the weather and aren’t looking to have their properties vandalized for speaking their mind.

The only downside is showing compliance in “being safe” and taking COVID precautions shows you will eventually be compliant.

But still a good showing of how corrupt the government is. Shutting off your power to your business? So the government has that power over you. Think about that.

Technically, the govt already has that authority since utilities are quasi government entities. Very scary indeed.

It gets even more insane that the “violations” happened in December and they are still having a vendetta against this guy even when they are allowed to operate with in person dining. Nowhere did I read that they could trace a single case of CCPVirus To his restaurant.

Tier 2: Red is bullshit. It's a trap.

2
SirWilliam 2 points ago +2 / -0

There's literally no tier that is any degree of normal. You could eradicate all coronaviruses and still have to be some degree of shut down. It's all BS.

Saltybitch 5 points ago +5 / -0

Awesome!!! Give 'em HELL!

Remove the doors from the hinges during the day. Can't lock what's not there.

2
RegularAmerican 2 points ago +2 / -0

I will go cut the lock so the owner doesn't have to get another fine.

2
ARfreedom 2 points ago +2 / -0

Why didn't this judge order the power off at the grammy's last night? (it's a rhetorical question, I know why)

2
Justlooking250 2 points ago +2 / -0

Communist pieces of subway filth. Go be a judge in Venezuela or Cuba. Disgusting piece of literal shit

The idiocy and Tyranny continues until they die.

2
TheTudes 2 points ago +2 / -0

If I lived anywhere near (an hour and a half drive) that restaurant I would go there two or three times a week and pay cash...

2
Gerbaski 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks for telling me what restaurant I need to report to with my family for a meal. I really don't care if it is an hour drive.
