It’s “hurtful”. No it isn’t, to anyone with an IQ above 65, and if somebody gets violent and attacks you over a word, they just prove the point. They also have to except the dire consequences that can, and often come to those who can’t keep their hands to themselves. With that said, I grew up among almost exclusively black folks in New Orleans, and I personally can’t stand the word, and got tired of hearing it by the time I was 13 years old. Half the time you’d think it was the only word many of them knew. Like I said before, it’s just a word. Unfortunately you have people who are willing to use a word as an excuse to get violent with others just because they are the wrong color when they say it, and you know this because you said as much in your reply. THATS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IMHO.
Edit: I forgot to add that you also have people using it as a get out of jail free card after they attack a white person. This is the problem with giving a word so much power and feigning outrage when someone white says it, but not batting an eye when blacks say it all day long everyday.
