I posted this elsewhere, but I want to expand on it.
If the people of Guam are a citizens by virtue of being a territory, does that mean they were Spanish citizens when they were a Spanish territory before the war? Does that make them Spanish American or did they stop being Spanish once American took it over? If, for whatever reason, Guam stops being a territory, what does that make them? Spanish American Guamese? Guamians?
If it wasn't for a need for a refueling station and forward air base.... Eh, fuck it. Guam and Puerto Rico deserve independence! Territories no more! Down with colonialism! lol
