My ancestors were settlers who came to a land that had nothing but hundreds of tribes warring with each other, who hadn't even figured out the wheel. Don't ever compare those people to the ones who come here when everything is done already and if they don't make it they can just stick their hand out to the government. Maybe it hurts your feelings, but it isn't the same thing. Even immigration in the early 20th century was different. Those were people escaping brutal governance, and they expected NOTHING from us or from our government, except the freedom to try to build a life. Don't you dare tell me that's all that immigrants today expect, because that's a load of shit.... especially if you're talking about illegal "immigrants."
When I was 18, I applied to pick strawberries and was turned down because I did not speak Spanish. Plenty of Americans would do those jobs if they could get them and thats even paying the slave wages they give now. Take the millions of immigrants away and suddenly those wages will go up. I would happily pay another $1 for my strawberries if we had zero immigration.
A lot of those things are automated, moreso all the time. And I'm sure paying more for some produce while NOT having a bunch of illegal aliens in the country would be well worth it... including financially.

While media was wailing over the poor children of illegal alien parents, actual citizens were lining up by the hundreds the next morning wanting to get a job. It's one of the poorest states in the nation, and a huge employer is allowed to give jobs to illegals so they can avoid paying overtime and taxes, while citizens who are willing to work are kicked to the gutter.
A whole lot of white people would eagerly take those jobs if they weren't getting a mountain of free money and free services while they stay home watching TV, drinking and smoking, and making babies who grow up to live the same way.
