The upper brass is really who you need to keep an eye on. Enlisted work their way up. Junior officers study their way up. Field grade officers politic their way up.
There is a ceiling for good men. I know many senior ranks, I don't know any political officers. I frankly don't want to.

I recall Bush saying he wasn't worried about Obama pulling out of Afghanistan because he can't - that as president, you aren't really calling the shots, or something to that extent. Trump may have rebuilt our military’s killing capacity by way of equipment upgrades and saving our troops from endless foreign wars (he tried anyway) but he was cutting into their bread and butter, which is why so many top neo-con military brass don’t support him. All this is fueled by global bankers and war profiteering.
Also theyve recruit from the poorest and most undereducated inner city youth for years now. Likely a large percentage of new recruits and especially national guard are lefties.
