Put on a funny hat and you will act like a cowboy or Charlie Chaplain. Put on a mask, goggles, and some armor and surround yourself with others that look like you and you are playing army. Through away the threat of getting punished and you have every little boy's dream.

Not being able to connect with people via subtle facial expressions that have been the result of thousands of years of evolution is destroying human connection.
The reality that the Superman cape does not let you leap tall buildings usually destroys the fantasy, just like a punch in the face.
I won’t be able to find it now, but I read an excellent article on exactly this - published pre-covid, of course. It talked about the way that wearing a mask has a huge impact on behaviour - something that used to be common knowledge but seems to be forgotten now. They make you more compliant, and also more likely to do things you wouldn’t otherwise do like attack people. There’s heaps of psych literature on it, it used to be well understood. It all went down the memory hole in 2020.
I just want a second opinion from people, does putting on a Halloween costume make you act or feel different?
I always feel like the same old me except wearing a stupid costume, but maybe that’s why I don’t celebrate Halloween.
