Almost by magic one day the media went from daily reporting of 'covid' deaths to instead talking about covid cases.

How this didn't get any neurons firing among consumers of the msm I'll never understand.

Most people, I would say, are incorrectly assuming that a "case" is a "sick person", but the reality is that the definition of a case is simply a "positive PCR test", which completely ignores the possibility of false positives.

The probability of true positives, which is called the "positive predictive value", goes down when the "disease prevalence" (what percentage of the population is actually sick) goes down.
