So I had to take an IQ test recently. Was being told that there is a correlation between politics and IQ. Specifically I was told that higher IQ is associated with Leftism.

That smells like woke bullshit.

Got my score, and had a little moment of smug delight because my score was surprisingly high. And it got me thinking:

I bet if everyone on this site took an IQ test and we averaged the scores, we would find that Patriots are just fucking smarter. I also bet that if you took a similar cross section of liberals and did the same, they would be significantly below average.

I just cannot believe that “let’s smash that storefront and take shit, they have insurance” and “wealth redistribution is sustainable” can possible make sense to a high functioning mind.

Rant over.

Back when I was a dumb kid, I scored high on an IQ test. Now that I've learned some things in life, I realize the IQ test means nothing.

You can be super intelligent and still be very stupid.

Of course, in the sense that willful blindness is the way that happens. You can be capable of logic and reasoning but refuse to acknowledge reality and apply it.

Also it is fair to say that the definition of “intelligent” is important. Parrots are not intelligent, but can appear so if they recite things properly.

Indeed, wisdom and intelligence are separate things. If you only have intelligence, you'll still be doing a lot of very dumb things. I don't believe you can have wisdom without some intelligence though.

I've heard of Lefties claiming they have a high IQ. This is to be expected of them, they like to think themselves superior. But I have a feeling if they tested everyone along party lines, the IQ difference wouldn't be significant.

That’s kinda my thought. I think the distribution for the left would be slanted to the lower end.

With the way they talk, this would be easy to believe.

You’re 100% correct. My brother is the smartest person I know, and we barely speak any more because his political views and his opinions on the WuFlu are just unbearably fucking stupid.

I call this willful blindness. Smart people who have been brow beaten to believe that only experts can tell them what to believe. That if their logic tells them something isn’t jiving, then they just must be mistaken formed and they should just drop it and take the expert at face value.
