I was watching a stream with Sargon of Akkad and he summed it up perfectly.
They start out in the theoretical and decide what they want from that position, and then they bring it to reality expecting reality to conform because "that's what's right".
Like someone starts off in the theoretical headspace of "I am a woman", and they end up cutting off their dick, taking hormones, and trying to redefine language in a vain attempt to make reality conform with that idea they decided was right in the purely theoretical sense.
Whereas sane people start out by considering reality and then formulate what they want to fit inside of that. Like "Life would be so much easier if I were a pretty woman... Too bad I'm an ugly man. Ohh well."
Because to sane people reality trumps the theoretical. But with leftists it's the other way around. Reality is evil and bigoted, and their theoretical ideas are all good and pure and moral.
That's why they say it's not real socialism when it fails. It only fails in reality, but in theory it's perfect. And theoretical purity is all they really care about.
Not really, they actually believe they should get everything they want without having to work and somehow socialism magically makes that happen.
