I cannot, and will not, speak for another human being, but subjugating yourself to a monetary value shows the Almighty God where you stand, and would be a detriment to your honor regarding the oath of service that I imagine, as I do not have knowledge of, they take upon enlistment in such a service or program.
That's a lot easier to say when you aren't suddenly and unexpectedly facing a $30,000 bill for the year and a complete change of future plans at the age of 18 or 19.
